In 2019, I invested in Polymetal $POLY.L betting on higher gold $GOLD and Silver $SILVER prices as I expected higher inflation. Right now, we are seeing higher inflation and we even have a war but unfortunately for me, Polymetal is not doing well because it is a Russian stock. Is gold a good investment for 2022?
Inflation is usually good for gold as it maintains its value over the long-term. As for a war, it is good for gold, especially right now when the assets of many Russian oligarchs have been seized in foreign banks.
When I first invested in gold and silver, it was based on macroeconomics through Polymetal rather than fundamentals. Right now, I don't see any gold or silver miners with good fundamentals for me to invest in.
