We had a great November, my portfolio is up by more than 18% with big gains from several of the stocks in our portfolio, including GameStop $GME which gained over 50%. The S&P 500 $SPX500 gained about 11%. I started buying GameStop in September 2019 so, returns may not always come immediately. Let's look at some of the stocks I'm buying this December 2020.
The first stock which I'm buying in December 2020 is Polymetal International $POLY.L which is the second largest gold miner in Russia and the third largest Silver miner in the world. With all the money printing that happened recently, I'm very bullish on gold and silver. Polymetal International has one of the lowest AISC in the industry and it can be further reduced in the future as they lower capex on growth as Polymetal is currently building new mines.
The second stock which I'm buying in December 2020 is Essent Group $ESNT . With the record low mortgage rate and rising home sales, more people will need to take mortgage insurance and the private mortgage insurance industry is booming. There are only 6 PMIs in the US with Essent Group having the best fundamentals such as the lowest combined ratio in the industry.
The third stock which I'm buying in December 2020 is Whiting Petroleum $WLL . This is an oil company which recently came out of bankruptcy. At the current price it is a bargain but it is also risky. Reward can be big, however, if we have higher oil prices. You can think of it as an option on higher oil prices. I'm not going to put more than 0.5% of my portfolio in it since I understand the risk. But if we have higher oil prices in the coming years (around $70/barrel), it can be a 10-bagger at current price.
