Google recently announced that they are entering the gaming industry with a cloud gaming platform called Google Stadia
With Google Stadia, you won't need any hardware apart from your pc or mobile to play any game. This makes the console unnecessary. However, Google also launched its own controller for Stadia.
AMD will be developing the GPU for Google Stadia. Microsoft and NVidia are also working on their cloud gaming platforms.
Google Stadia will be able to integrate with YouTube and this will give an edge to Google over competitors. Most probably Google Stadia will be like the Netflix of games where gamers will be able to stream games.
Possibly even Facebook could enter cloud gaming since they already own the VR company Oculus.
